What Gear Do I Use?

Photography gear is an important factor that not a lot of people talk about, including photographers. Having the right gear is something you should be thinking about when booking a photographer! My goal is to never miss important moments. Authentic moments can't be repeated!

So what Do I Use?

I strictly use all of Sony's top of the line gear. Sony has top of the line mirrorless cameras and some of the best lenses on the market today. Specifically, I use their "G Master" lineup of lenses, and these are the highest quality glass they make, and arguably some the best lenses on the market. I also carry two of their most sought after camera bodies, the Sony a7 IV. I love these cameras because of their extremely high resolution, clarity, fast auto-focus, and their ability to shoot photo and video so well. It's the perfect hybrid camera, and that's why I carry two! Another reason I carry two, is for safety. In the tragic event of one of my cameras failing for whatever reason, I have a backup! I can't stress how important this is!

Prime Lenses

To dive a bit deeper, I want to talk about lenses. After all, the most important factor when it comes to quality, usually lies within the lens more than the camera body. Prime lenses are important for my style because they have a large aperture, allowing me to shoot in low light situations (often at wedding receptions or golden hour shoots), and they allow me to have that nice blurred background so my couples pop in my images. The quality is unmatched when you put them next to any zoom lenses. My lenses range from 20mm, which is great for dance floor and wide environmental shots, all the way to 135mm which is a long lens great for distance shots, larger ceremonies, and artistic landscapes.

The Secret Sauce Lens:

The last lens I want to talk about is the newest addition to my arsenal, the tilt shift lens. This is no ordinary lens, and they actually were made for landscape and architecture photography. But I was quickly inspired by some of my favorite photographers around the world when I saw them using these lenses for creative portraits. It creates a unique look that cannot be replicated, and offers supreme creativity with focus and depth of field. I just have so much fun getting creative with my couples!

Unfortunately, Sony has not come out with a tilt shift lens yet. so I quickly turned to the best option out there, the Canon 45mm TS-E lens. Here's some example shots of a recent wedding where I used this special lens.
